Chair ReadyYour first three-shot service post

Lesson 4 of 5

Writing a clear caption

Your caption explains what people are looking at and what to do next. Clear beats clever: a short caption that names the service, the person it is for and one next step does its job.

Open with the service and the person

The first line is the one most people read. Say what the service is and who it suits, in everyday words your clients would use.

Point to the detail

Tell viewers what to notice: "Watch the root blend in shot two." This connects your caption to your footage and shows your expertise without exaggeration.

End with one clear next step

Pick a single call to action — message you, ask about a consult, save the post for later. One clear step is easier to follow than a list.

Exercise: build a caption in three lines

Fill in the three lines below, then read the caption aloud. If any line needs a second breath, shorten it.

Practice example: "Balayage refresh for clients who want low-upkeep colour. Watch the soft root blend in the second clip. Message me to ask about a consult."
